Darmstadt Technical University (TECHNISCHE UNIVERSITÄT DARMSTADT) is located in the city of Darmstadt. Abbreviated as TU Darmstadt. Established in 1877. Until 1899 schools were allowed to grant Ph.D. degrees. Belonging to Heesen state, 35km from Frankfurt, 600km from Berlin, is Germany's first independent university.
